Sammanfattning: In modern times, the issue of gender equality has aroused the interest of the public arena and through this the interest for this study was aroused. The purpose is to examine women's experiences in regards to equality to aim to understand her situation in male-dominated university programs and the background lies in the fact that we, through theories by Yvonne Hirdman, have reasoned about ideas of a subordinate / superior gender. The subject will be investigated through a qualitative survey method where we use semi-structured interviews. We conducted 6 interviews with women studying male-dominated programs at Örebro University and we limited the selection to programs in engineering and finance. In previous research, we found that young women at the university can experience more challenges and in the labor market, women need to act masculine in a male-dominated market to fit in. We have used Yvonne Hirdman's and Candace West & Don H. Zimmerman's various theories. We want to find out how women's experiences have been and use the empirical data to analyze findings and draw conclusions with theories and previous research. After the work was completed, the results showed that women in male-dominated programs can experience a certain subordination which manifests in certain recurring situations.
