  1. 1. Characterization of the fusion protein mNG-Aβ1-42 as a fluorescence reporter probe for amyloid structure

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Författare :Linnéa Fredén; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer’s Disease AD ; Amyloids; ; fusion protein; mNeonGreen; mNG-Aβ1-42; Crystallization; mouse brain tissue; human brain tissue; amyloid fluorescent probes;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s Disease, also called AD, is a horrible, degenerative brain disease that more than 35 million people over the world have. Today, there is no cure for this disease, only treatments that are temporarily relieving the symptoms. The two proteins that is thought to be the main cause of AD is amyloid β (Aβ) and tau. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A method for unbiased analysis of fluorescence microscope images of Alzheimer’s disease related amyloids

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Författare :Samuel Haglund; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Amyloid beta; Luminocent conjugated oligothiophene; Hyperspectral image analysis; Alzheimers disease;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer's disease is a widespread disease that has devastating effects on the human brain and mind. Ultimately, it leads to death and there are currently no treatment methods available that can stop the disease progression. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fluorescent fusion proteins as probes to characterize tau fibril polymorphism

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Kemi

    Författare :Max Lindberg; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer’s disease AD ; amyloids; FRET; tau; MAPT; fibrillation kinetics; seeding; fusion protein; EGFP; ECFP; EYFP; ThT; X-34; BTD14;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a large and growing problem and while we today lack a full understanding of this disease, we know that the protein tau and the amyloid fibrils it forms play a central role in its development. We also know that these fibrils can have different morphologies in different diseases and that fibrils produced in vitro not necessarily adopt any of the morphologies found in patients. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Synthesis of proteophenes that can be utilized as fluorescent ligands for biological targets

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Kemi

    Författare :Linnea Björk; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Fluorescent probes; Neuredegenerative diseases; Luminescent Conjugated Oligothiophenes; Protein misfolding; Aggregates; Amyloids; Alzheimer’s disease; Aβ-plaque;

    Sammanfattning : Small fluorescent probes are important tools when studying protein aggregates involved in different neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease. Luminescent conjugated oligothiophenes have been developed and shown to be excellent ligands when studying morphology among amyloids, due to their conjugated thiophene backbone that provides them with unique photophysical properties. 5. 5. Effects of herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) infection on nuclear amyloid aggregation

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Författare :Maria Arone Blanco; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Huntington’s disease; Spinocerebellar ataxia; Amyloids; Protein aggregation; Herpes Simplex Virus 1; HSV-1; Virus infection; oligonucleotides; Filter retardation Assay; Dot Blot.; Huntingtons sjukdom; Spinocerebellära ataxier; Amyloider; Protein aggregering; Herpes Simplex Virus 1; HSV-1; Virus infektion; Oligonukleotider; Filter retardation Assay; Dot Blot.;

    Sammanfattning : Huntington’s disease (HD) and Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) are incurable neurodegenerative diseases that affect the central nervous system. Amyloids, highly organized protein aggregates, are a hallmark for many neurodegenerative diseases. The presence and accumulation of amyloids are toxic and constitute the major cause of neuron cell death. LÄS MER
