  1. 1. Institutions and Economic Growth in the Late Ottoman Empire: A Quantitative Approach, 1820-1913

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Författare :David Vesterager Husfeldt; [2023]
    Nyckelord :institutions; economic history; economic growth; Ottoman Empire; Business and Economics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the institutions and economic development of the late Ottoman Empire, examining whether institutions can explain the economic development of the regions and countries subject to it during the period of 1820-1913. The thesis aims to quantify the institutional determinants of geography, religion/culture, and political economy/interests, and it employs a semi-experimental approach of using inequality extraction ratios as an indicator for the political economy. 2. 2. Snow-graupel collisions in clouds: a newly derived formulation for breakup of single crystals

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Victor Craig van der Brug; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; Secondary Ice Production; Ice Cloud Number Concentration; Cloud Ice; Ice-Ice Collisions; Snow Crystal; Atmospheric Science Biogeochemical Cycles; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The observed and well-known discrepancy between concentrations of ice nucleating particles in the environment and the concentrations of ice particles in clouds show that there are additional ‘secondary’ processes enhancing the concentrations of ice particles. In present-day modelling of weather and climate, such processes are mostly overlooked and thus a cause for uncertainty. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Impact of environmental variables on tundra vegetation onset of flowering explained by survival modelling

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Hanna Jonsson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Flowering; Phenology; Cox proportional hazard model; Tundra; International tundra experiment; Climate change; Physical Geography and Ecosystem analysis; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Timing of phenological events are highly related to climate and is one of the first signs of ecosystem responses to the climate change. Timing of flowering phenology is an important trait influencing the distribution and fitness of plants species. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Atëphobia: On Lovecraft, Deleuze and the limits of affectual geography

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi

    Författare :Carl Olsson; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Affect; Deleuze; Lovecraft; Non-representational theory; Aesthetics; Literary geography; Experimental writing; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past two decades non-representational and affectual geographers have cited the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze to the point of exhaustion. In this thesis I read Deleuze’s interpretation of Spinoza through the weird tales written by the American horror author H. P. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Occupied Peripheries: Rethinking Landscape in the Anthropocene Visuality

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för konsthistoria och visuella studier

    Författare :Lena Quelvennec; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Landscape; visuality; experimental geography; Anthropocene; The ZAD.; Arts and Architecture; Cultural Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Although landscape representations in the US-European culture have traditionally been acknowledged as a peaceful ordering of the world or the tool of imperialism, nationalism and private property (sometimes all simultaneously), a new shift in the landscape scopic regime seems to be happening. Produced by the current rise of concerns around climate change and environmental crisis, this shift seems to be related to a specific attention to land use and land value. LÄS MER
