21. Greenhouse gas emissions from compacted peat soil
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and EnvironmentSammanfattning : Cultivated peat soils are a main driver for CO2 and N2O emissions, while the gas fluxes are dependent on intrinsic soil properties and land use. Sand addition into peat soils might reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and enhance soil strength, and thus the ability to tolerate soil compaction. LÄS MER
22. Occurrence of Phytophthora species in soils, and functional analysis of soil microbiomes on Biolog EcoPlates : a study on commercial soils, and forest and urban soils
Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research CentreSammanfattning : Tree pathogenic Phytophthora species have been identified as a threat to health and stability of forests und urban trees. In Sweden most Phytophthora species are non-native and potentially invasive, and thus it is important to control their spread. LÄS MER
23. Avloppsslam på åkermark : Analys av långsiktiga effekter på mikrobsamhället och kväveomvandlande mikroorganismer
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : One major environmental challenge is to manage agricultural soil in asustainable way. Since nutrients in the soil are taken away every harvest, there is a need to recycle nutrients back to the soil. One solution is to use sewage sludge as a fertilizer. However, sludge can also contain substances that could potentially be harmful to crops or humans. LÄS MER
24. Potentiella miljörisker med geoenergisystems temperaturpåverkan i mark och grundvatten
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildningSammanfattning : The aim of this literature study was to answer whether the thermal impact of geothermal energy systems pose a potential environmental risk to groundwater quality and microorganisms in the sub surface and to above ground vegetation. This study shows that the thermal impact of high temperature systems operating with temperatures ≥25⁰C in groundwater could lead to adverse effects on groundwater chemistry and biodiversity, such as mobilization of arsenic and DOC. 25. Search for Preserved Methanogenic Organisms in Ophiolitic Rocks through Lipid Biomarker Analysis – Implications for Astrobiological Explorations
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Serpentinization is a metamorphic low-temperature geological process, involving a series of chemical reactions that hydrate ultramafic rocks into serpentines and other minerals such as magnetite and brucite. Moreover, the process produces heavily reducing and highly alkaline fluids together with molecular hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4), which have the capacity to support chemosynthetic microbial life.
