  1. 1. Behind the early warning: Improving impact-based forecasting of riverine floods in Malawi using passive microwave remote sensing

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Lone Mokkenstorm; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography; Ecosystem Analysis; Early Warning; Riverine Floods; Humanitarian Work; Impact-based Forecasting; Malawi; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates whether freely available, coarse-resolution, Passive Microwave Remote Sensing (PMRS) data (37 GHz) can be effectively used for early warning systems for floods in Malawi. The Shire River Basin in Chikwawa and the smaller-scale North Rukuru River Basin in Karonga were studied using two alternative, ratio-based satellite indices that make use of the signal difference between wet and dry pixel cells: The m index and the rcmc index. 2. 2. Riverine Operations : ett utvecklande koncept

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Försvarshögskolan

    Författare :Ohlsson Jesper; [2019]
    Nyckelord :riverine operations; amfibiekrigföring; tekniska system; militär förmåga;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change will most likely cause marine ecosystems and human living conditions to change in the areas bordering on the sea, rivers and its delta. As a result of these changes with significant resource shortages, there are obvious risks that conflicts arise between peoples' groups or other spheres of interest. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Predicting spawning bed erosion and longevity : a case study in tributaries to river Vindelälven, northern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Viktor Tylstedt; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Salmo trutta; stream restoration; longevity; erosion; spawning bed; Vindelälven;

    Sammanfattning : Timber floating operations in Scandinavia during the 19th and 20th centuries has contributed to severe negative impacts on riverine ecosystems. Increase in water velocity and lack of stream bed heterogeneity as a result of stream channelization lead to increased bed load transport. LÄS MER
