  1. 1. Influence of permafrost disintegration on wetland carbon fluxes in Abisko, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Aida Esmailzadeh Davani; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography; Ecosystem Analysis; Permafrost; CH4 flux; CO2 flux; Abisko; Wetlands; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The northern permafrost regions are experiencing a rapid warming as surface temperatures are rising, causing a disintegration of permafrost and a deepening of the active layer (AL). This releases previously frozen carbon, making it available for decomposition by microbes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Viktiga funktioner och designfaktorer i resecentrum : Klimatanpassningar för subarktiskt klimat

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Arkitektur och vatten

    Författare :Matilda Anttila; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Travel center; subarctic climate; winter; sustainable transport; attractive urban spaces; Resecentrum; subarktiskt klimat; vinter; hållbara transporter; kollektiva resor; attraktiva stadsrum;

    Sammanfattning : I Sverige finns en enighet om att kollektivtrafiken måste utvecklas om målsättningar för klimat och attraktiva städer ska kunna nås. Trafiksystemets utformning har i sin helhet stor betydelse för en långsiktigt hållbar utveckling. Resecentrumen håller på att få en allt viktigare roll i stora som små städer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Time series analysis of ground frost conditions at Abisko, sub-Arctic Sweden, 1985-2010

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Anja Schmidt; [2012]
    Nyckelord :marktemperatur; subarktiska Sverige; Abisko forskningstation; frost cykler; snötäcke; lufttemperatur; Ground temperatures; subarctic Sweden; Abisko research station; frost cycle; snow cover; air temperature;

    Sammanfattning : Observed climatic change may result in modification of the ground thermal regime.The causes of shallow ground temperature variability, however, are not well documented. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Variation in protein precipitation and phenolic content within and among species across an elevational gradient in subarctic Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Elin Olofsson; [2010]
    Nyckelord :Phenolic compounds; Protein complexation; Elevational gradient; Subarctic; Fertility gradient;

    Sammanfattning : This project investigated how elevation and vegetation type influences variation in plant litter phenolic content and protein precipitation capacity among and within common plant species for two different vegetation types, heath and meadow, in a subarctic ecosystem in the Abisko region of northern Sweden. As nutrient availability generally decreases with increasing elevation as a result of decreasing temperature, I hypothesised that phenolic content would increase with elevation and be higher on the heath than the meadow. 5. 5. Degrading palsa mires in northern Europe : changing vegetation in an altering climate and its potential impact on greenhouse gas fluxes

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Julia Karlgård; [2008]
    Nyckelord :geography; physical geography; palsa mires; northern Europe; greenhouse gas fluxes; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The on-going global warming is projected to have large impacts on the arctic and subarctic environment. Especially vulnerable are ecosystems with narrow climatic envelopes and with small possibilities of adaptation. An example of this is the palsa mires, subarctic mire complexes with patches of permafrost. LÄS MER
