Sammanfattning: This bachelor thesis invites the reader to examine how social media platforms have been used by companies during the 2020 corona pandemic. This study bases its case by focusing on a global consulting company with offices in both Denmark and Sweden and how these two offices have used social media platforms LinkedIn and Facebook to communicate during the pandemic. Both countries have utilized different strategies with regards to handling the pandemic. This thesis aims to explain how different risks in society interact with modern technology in 2020. The method used in this thesis is a qualitative case study in which the theories used are Beck's theory about risk society and Rainie & Wellman’s theories about digital networks. For the analysis two interviews were used as empirical data. Social media managers from each office who were both working with their respective companies’ LinkedIn and Facebook pages. Among the findings in this thesis were that we still live in a risk society and in which ways digital media can help the company handle crises like the pandemic. Different strategies used in different countries result in distinct methods. This led to unique methods of communication with both employees and customers. Furthermore, the information published on social media also varied between the two offices. Another interesting finding is that the two theories used also complement each other. Beck's theory about risk helps explain the pandemic and how our society is constantly creating new risks. Rainie & Wellman theory about digital networks helps explain how to handle these risks.
