    Sammanfattning : This study utilises Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine media discourses on rent increases in the Swedish rental housing market and their reflection of crises within neoliberal regimes. Proceeding from newspaper articles from Dagens Nyheter, the largest newspaper in Sweden, two separate time periods are analysed, with one functioning as a control group. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : After the 2008 Global Financial Crash, Ireland’s neoliberal housing policy turned again to housing financialisation as focus lay upon the attraction of corporate investors in order to revive the housing market. The result was a swift return to housing price rises but this came with ever growing homelessness and housing precarity as REITs and other corporate investors' influence on the housing market grew.     Sammanfattning : This study explores how notions of social justice are reflected in municipal rhetorics on housing provision in Berlin and Stockholm, as well as how they resonate with ensuring the right to adequate housing for all. The study also examines how the interpretation of the justice perspective within housing provision differs among the two cities and how such variances can be understood in relation to the cities’ pursued housing regimes.     Sammanfattning : This study examines displacement of people in need of social assistance in Sweden, a phenomenon that received media attention during the fall of 2020 under the name “social dumping”, that describes how municipalities around the country actively forces people to move to other municipalities. Through interviews with employees within municipalities who have received displaced people in need of social assistance and civil society organizations, discourses are examined by focusing on how they present displacement as a problem.
