  2. 2. Assessing the impact of post-fire restoration interventions using spectral vegetation indices: A case study in El Bruc, Spain

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Bernat Dorado Guerrero; [2022]
    Nyckelord :geography; GIS; restoration intervention; drylands; monitoring; BACI; spectral vegetation indices; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Ecological restoration has become an increasingly used practice to revert degraded land and mitigate the effects of extreme events in vulnerable biomes such as drylands. Methods to improve the assessment of these restoration interventions are essential to ensure their success, optimize resources and identify improvement aspects for future interventions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Metro Manila, Philippines : Case Study of the 2020 Typhoons: Quinta, Rolly and Ulysses

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Sara Ellinor Granström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Disaster risk reduction and management; Philippines; Metro Manila; typhoons; tropical cyclones; loss and damage; transformation as liberation; Reducering och hantering av katastrofrisker; Filippinerna; Metro Manila; tyfoner; tropiska cykloner; förlust och skada; förändring som befrielse;

    Sammanfattning : The Philippines is considered one of the most vulnerable countries in the world to climate disasters due to a combination of its geospatial, political, economic, and social attributes. 4. 4. Carbon capture in biomass combustion plants using promoted potassium carbonate solutions : A cost and safety evaluation

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Mittuniversitetet/Institutionen för kemiteknik

    Författare :Håkan Bergman; [2022]
    Nyckelord :BECCS; carbon dioxide; potassium carbonate; bioenergy carbon capture and storage; promoter; BECSS; Koldioxidinfångning;

    Sammanfattning : Biomass combustion can be seen as CO2 neutral, thereby biomass combustion plants can have negative CO2 emissions if retrofitted with post combustion capture (PCC) technology using liquid absorbents. Monoethanolamine (MEA) has been used for carbon capture in coal combustion plants but are not suitable for use in biomass combustion plants due to corrosion and high solvent regeneration cost. 5. 5. An exploratory scenario study on cruise ships' resilience and service quality in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för organisation och entreprenörskap (OE)

    Författare :Emma Forslund; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Cruise ship; Cruises; Crew; ROPAX; Resilience; Organisational Resilience; Resilience Range; Service Quality; Service experience; Adaptive Change Cycle;

    Sammanfattning : Although the cruise industry and ROPAX ships have achieved steady growth with increased capacity, innovative service provisions and constantly being prepared for events of emergencies, they were not prepared for the sudden COVID-19 pandemic, and the travel restrictions and No Sail order put a halt to their services. Organisational resilience has received a growing interest in the world since its capabilities can support organisations to anticipate, cope and adapt to internal or external changes due to a crisis or unexpected event.
