  1. 1. The effect of management strategies on carbon uptake of highway ancillary areas in Northern Germany

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Maura Karmann; [2023]
    Nyckelord :InVEST- model; Highway ancillary areas; carbon pool estimations; management factors; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon storage capacity estimations of terrestrial vegetation are necessary to understand the limit of possible carbon emissions. General approximations, of a landscapes carbon pool capacity, can be performed using the InVEST-model. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling gross primary production in semi-arid regions: effects on carbon uptake of intensive agriculture in southern Kenya

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Malin Ahlbäck; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography; Ecosystem Analysis; GPP; Africa; Kenya; Land cover changes; Cropland; Remote sensing; Sentinel-2; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aim: Gross primary production (GPP) is the largest global carbon (C) flux and an important component for counteracting anthropogenic CO2 emissions, understanding vegetation dynamics, and sustaining universal human standards. Africa plays a prominent role in the global C cycle, though our understanding of GPP dynamics is largely hampered by a paucity of ground-based observations. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hoten mot grevyzebran (Equus grevyi) och bevarandearbetet av arten

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health

    Författare :Emma Jettel; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Grevyzebra; Equus grevyi; bevarandebiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Grevyzebran (Equus grevyi) är en av världens tre zebraarter och skiljer sig från de andra genom att de har en högre mankhöjd, tätare ränder och större öron. Grevyzebrorna har dessutom andra sociala strukturer än de flesta andra hästdjur och till skillnad från att hingstar håller harem med flera ston, är grevyzebrorna territoriella och försvarar resurser och har endast tillfälliga band med ston. 4. 4. Remote sensing-based monitoring of snow cover dynamics and its influence on vegetation growth in the Middle Atlas Mountains

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Nezha Acil; [2016]
    Nyckelord :grasslands; shrublands; forests; Morocco; mountains; monitoring; remote sensing; MODIS; snow; vegetation; Physical Geography; Ecosystem analysis; GIS; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Endowed with diverse vegetation covers, the Middle Atlas Mountains receive substantial snowfall in winter, which contributes to plant hydration during the growing season. Using remotely-sensed imagery, this study aims to assess the trends in snow cover variations between 2000 and 2015, analyse the local influence of snowpack persistence on vegetation growth and evaluate the significance of this effect by comparing snow-fed and non-snow-fed sites. 5. 5. Land cover change and its influence on soil erosion in the Mara region, Tanzania : using satellite remote sensing and the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) to map land degradation between 1986 and 2013

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Klara Århem; Fredrik Fredén; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation; land cover change; geography; physical geography; soil erosion; land degradation; RUSLE ; remote sensing; Landsat; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Sub-Saharan Africa suffers from land degradation, depletion of natural resources and rural poverty. In the Lake Victoria Basin, where large parts of the population are small scale farmers, people are facing such issues coupled with altered climatic conditions. LÄS MER
