  1. 1. Cr-spinels in the Franklinian Mobile Belt : a geochemical record of Paleozoic tectonics

    Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Författare :Malvina Forbes Halldén; [2019]
    Nyckelord :geology; geochemistry; spinel; Cr-spinel; chromite; SEM; scanning electron microscope; electron microprobe; EMP; electron probe microanalyzer; EPMA; electron micro probe analyzer; EMPA; petrogenetic indicator; microscopy; alteration; Franklinian Mobile Belt; Kulutingwak Formation; Clements Markham fold belt; Pearya; Paleozoic; suprasubduction zone; SSZ; island arc; IA; Arctic Canadian Archipelago; Ellesmere Island; Canada; 2017 Circum-Arctic Structural Events Expedition 19; Memorial University of Newfoundland; geologi; geokemi; spinell; Cr-spinell; kromit; SEM; svepeletronmikroskopi; elektronmikrosondanalys; EMP; EPMA; EMPA; petrogenetisk indikator; mikroskopi; Franklinian Mobile Belt; Kulutingwak-formationen; Clements Markham fold belt; Pearya; Paleozoikum; suprasubduktionszon; SSZ; öbåge; IA; Kanadas arktiska öar; Ellesmereön; Kanada; 2017 Circum-Arctic Structural Events Expedition 19; Memorial University of Newfoundland;

    Sammanfattning : The chemical compositions of Cr-spinel extracted from mafic and ultramafic rocks collected on Ellesmere Island in the Arctic Canadian Archipelago were obtained through electron microprobe analyses. The extensively altered rocks are sampled from rock units in the Franklinian MobileBelt, which is representative of a Paleozoic tectonically active oceanic regime of which little is presently known. 2. 2. Changes in Surface Mass Balance on the Devon Ice Cap in the Canadian Arctic

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Linnéa Midefelt; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Surface mass balance; Devon Ice Cap; Canadian Arctic; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is an ongoing process that contributes to changes in the climate on a global scale down to a local scale. The Arctic sea ice and the glaciers have continued to decrease at the same time as the rate of sea level rise has increased. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Recent climate warming impact on the firn layers at Lomonosovfonna and Penny Ice Cap

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Christoffer Winander Schönning; [2014]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Current climate warming has a disproportionally large impact on Arctic glaciers and ice caps. In this thesis, I examined stratigraphic changes observed in the top ~15 m of two Arctic ice caps: one located at Svalbard (Lomonosovfonna) and the eastern Canadian Arctic Archipelago (Penny). 4. 4. The impact of founder events and introductions on genetic variation in the muskox Ovibos moschatus

    L3-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Linda Englund; [2008]
    Nyckelord :Canadian archipelago; genetic variation; Greenland; introductions; management; microsatellites; muskox; Norway; Ovibos moschatus; sequential founder events; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : The muskox is an ungulate that is well adapted to severe arctic conditions. Native populations are today found in northern Canada, the Canadian archipelago and on the northeastern coast of Greenland. LÄS MER
