   Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to create a deeper understanding of the identity and self-image of female Swedish emigrants of the 1880s-1920s with the help of preserved personal objects by answering the following questions with a microhistory approach: What significance did material objects have for the identity formulation of female Swedish emigrants in healthcare in America? And, What do the material objects tell us about the identity, self-image and experience of these unmarried female Swedish-American emigrants? To answer the questions material sources have been examined with the use of Wilhelm Dilthey's hermeneutic method of interpretation. A method where historical understanding is viewed as essential for our ability to interpret historical meaning. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : Syftet med denna undersökning är att belysa och analysera de breda effekterna av flykting- förläggningen i Svappavaara under dess verksamma tid 1987–1995. Däribland hur den togs emot i lokalsamhället, men även dess roll för upprätthållandet av arbetstillfällen, bostäder och samhällsfunktioner i och med den ekonomiska nedgång som drabbade Svappavaara med gruvkrisen, och föranledde till behovet av alternativa näringar såsom flyktingförläggningen.    Sammanfattning : My ambition in the midst of the myriad of conflicting views in Smith scholarship has been to examine Smith’s perspective on wage labour, as formulated in The Wealth of Nations, in light of previous research, the historical context, his moral psychology described in The Theory of Moral Sentiments, and his presentation of rights developed in Lectures on Jurisprudence. Therefore, the central question has been, “How did Adam Smith perceive wage labour?” Since The Wealth of Nations was formulated in a specific historical context - which has come to be known as the Scottish Enlightenment -, it is necessary to approach the text with an understanding of these historical conditions in order to grasp Smith's economic theory.
