17. Remote sensing-based monitoring of snow cover dynamics and its influence on vegetation growth in the Middle Atlas Mountains
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Endowed with diverse vegetation covers, the Middle Atlas Mountains receive substantial snowfall in winter, which contributes to plant hydration during the growing season. Using remotely-sensed imagery, this study aims to assess the trends in snow cover variations between 2000 and 2015, analyse the local influence of snowpack persistence on vegetation growth and evaluate the significance of this effect by comparing snow-fed and non-snow-fed sites. 18. Influence of soil moisture content and infiltration on ground temperature and active layer depth in a river terrace in Adventdalen, Svalbard
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : The active layer constitutes an important subsystem of permafrost environments. Thermal andhydrological processes in the active layer determine local phenomena such as erosion, hydrologicaland ecosystem changes, and can have implications for the global carbon-climate feedback. 19. Switching to the “Golden Age of Natural Gas” with a focus on shale gas exploitation : a possible bridge to mitigate climate change?
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Currently, policy makers put high attention in supplying global energy demand by focusing on 2°C policy; global temperature anomaly based on the global mean temperature of pre-industrial era (13.7°C). How to keep the 2°C policy at global scope is the main question in climate framework. LÄS MER
20. Environmental Controls on Snow Cover Thickness and Water Equivalent in Two Sub-Arctic Mountain Catchments
Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : The spatial variability of snow cover characteristics (depth, density, and snow water equivalent [SWE]) has paramount importance for the management of water resources in mountain environments. Passive microwave (PM) inference of SWE from space-borne instrumentation is increasingly used but the reliability of this technique remains limited in mountainous areas. LÄS MER
