  1. 21. Limiting microplastic pollution from municipal wastewater treatment : A circular economic approach

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Jordy van Osch; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Microplastics; circular economy; wastewater treatment plant; resource recovery; Multi-criteria analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing amount of microplastics found in the environment have underscored the urgency to identify, develop and deploy scenarios in which municipal wastewater treatment plants (MWWTPs) limit the release of urban microplastics into the environment. Simultaneously, the global trend towards a circular economy has defined the conditions for these scenarios in relation to the water-energy- nutrient nexus. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Small-scale biogas production from organic waste and application in mid-income countries – a case study of a Lebanese community

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Sebastian Huber; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Sustainable Development; Lebanon; small-scale; biogas production; organic waste; liquid digestate; anaerobic digestion; feasibility study;

    Sammanfattning : The controlled anaerobic digestion of organic waste in a biogas facility aggregates advantages of waste treatment, energy recovery and nutrient recycling and is a promising technology to deal with contemporary issues of waste management and energy recovery. Small-scale biogas production units can be simply designed and successfully operated even in settings where means for advanced technology equipment are low and institutional capacities limited. 3. 23. Teknikutvärdering av Urintorkning i Pilotskala – ett Fältförsök i Finland : Technical Evaluation of Urine Drying in Pilot Scale - a Field Experiment in Finland

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå,

    Författare :Caroline Karlsson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Urine drying; dry sanitation system; alkaline stabilisation of urea; nutrient recovery; nitrogen; phosphorous; potassium; fertilizer; Urintorkning; basisk stabilisering av urea; torrt sanitetssystem; växtnäring; kväve; fosfor; kalium; gödsel; återvinning av näringsämnen;

    Sammanfattning : Av samtliga globala processer som reglerar jordsystemet är de biogeokemiska flödena av kväve (N) och fosfor (P) mest påverkade av mänskliga aktiviteter. Inerta former av N och P omvandlas till reaktiva former som sprids i miljön, där de orsakar eutrofiering och påverkar marina ekosystem negativt. LÄS MER

  4. 24. An evaluation of the long-term functionality of Ecological Sanitation (EcoSan) projects in rural Burkina Faso : Reuse of sanitized human excreta as fertilizer in local agriculture

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskaplig kommunikation och lärande (ECE)

    Författare :Anna Jonsson; Anna Land; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Sustainable sanitation; Ecological Sanitation; EcoSan; UDDT; Human; Hållbar sanitet; Ekologisk sanitet; Ecological Sanitation; EcoSan;

    Sammanfattning : 2.4 billion people worldwide lack access to basic sanitation solutions, with major health and environmental impact as a result. The recently adopted worldwide Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) aim to reduce this problem and extend the access to basic sanitation. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Challenges during start-up of urine nitrification in an MBBR

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Författare :Ellen Ascard Edefell; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Urine; source-separation; urine stabilisation; nitrogen recovery; nitrification; moving bed biofilm reactor; MBBR; water engineering; environmental engineering; vattenförsörjningsteknik; avloppsteknik; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen and phosphorous compounds are secreted by humans and treated in wastewater treatments plants. These substances are also found in agricultural fertilisers and needed for plant growth. Nutrient recycling is limited in conventional treatment systems and valuable products are lost. LÄS MER
