    Sammanfattning : In light of the incorporation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in Swedish law on January 1st, 2020, the purpose of the thesis is to examine whether the convention has had the impact on the application of law that the legislator intended when the law was incorporated. The purpose is fulfilled by answering the question of how the incorporation of the CRC into Swedish law has affected the assessment of the best interests of the child when particularly distressing circumstances are the basis of an application for residence permit.
