    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to create a deeper understanding of the identity and self-image of female Swedish emigrants of the 1880s-1920s with the help of preserved personal objects by answering the following questions with a microhistory approach: What significance did material objects have for the identity formulation of female Swedish emigrants in healthcare in America? And, What do the material objects tell us about the identity, self-image and experience of these unmarried female Swedish-American emigrants? To answer the questions material sources have been examined with the use of Wilhelm Dilthey's hermeneutic method of interpretation. A method where historical understanding is viewed as essential for our ability to interpret historical meaning. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this research paper was to examine and understand how Russia contributed to be exacerbating the situation in Syria, leading it from peaceful protests demanding freedom, justice, and a better social and economic life, to a devastating civil war that took and displaced the lives of millions around the world.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this essay is to explore how the interplay between gender and double consciousness is used as a rhetorical device in Harriet Jacobs’ autobiographical narrative “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl” (1861). Through a feminist theoretical lens and the concept of double consciousness I provide examples from the text illustrating Jacobs’ strategic use of different narrative techniques to convey her abolitionist message.     Sammanfattning : Die vorliegende Analyse des Sterne-Romans von Özdamar ist Hauptanliegen dieser Magisterarbeit im Fach Deutsch mit literaturwissenschaftlicher Einrichtung und die Betrachtung der Dynamik wandelbarer Identitäten in Bezug auf Individuen und Gesellschaft in postkolonialen und postmigrantischen Zusammenhängen, primäres Forschungsziel. In methodischer Anlehnung an postkoloniale Theorien und transnationaler Literaturforschung, fokussiert diese Analyse insbesondere auf die Forschungsbereiche Transnationalität, Hybridität und Alterität, betrachtet allerdings auch Lesarten multiperspektivischer und autosoziobiographischer Erinnerungen innerhalb kollektiver Gedächtnisräume.
