  1. 1. Population dynamics of the spruce bark beetle Ips typographus in forest conservation areas and the interaction with biodiversity and natural enemies

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Evelina Andersson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :spruce bark beetle; population dynamics; conservation areas; biodiversity; natural enemies; species richness; managed forests; woodland key-habitats; nature reserves;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity is rapidly decreasing and in need of more conservation efforts. However, the tree-killing European spruce bark beetle, Ips typographus (L.), has made forest conservation controversial by affecting conservation areas and possibly adjoining managed forests, yet is still a keystone species leaving decaying wood promoting biodiversity. 2. 2. How hot are retention patches as structural hotspots? : comparing key elements for biodiversity in retention patches and reference forest stands

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Maja Östlund; [2022]
    Nyckelord :retention forestry; retention patches; deadwood; live conservation trees; retention forestry; biodiversity preservation; substrate diversity;

    Sammanfattning : Sweden’s historical and current forestry regime has created structurally simplified forest stands with little resemblance of boreal old-growth forests, leading to a decline in many forest dwelling species. Retention forestry was introduced to counteract the negative development by retaining biologically important forest elements. LÄS MER

  3. 3. En studie om skogsägares syn på hållbart skogsbruk i Sverige : En analys av skogsägares värderingar

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Tema Miljöförändring

    Författare :Emil Sjösten; Simon Eriksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Sustainable forestry; demography; individual forest owners; sustainability; policy; species protection; Sweden s environmental goals; protected areas; woodland key habitats; authorities; forest certification; survey; Hållbart skogsbruk; demografi; enskilda skogsägare; hållbarhet; policy; artskydd; Sveriges miljömål; skyddade områden; nyckelbiotoper; myndigheter; skogsbrukscertifiering; enkätundersökning;

    Sammanfattning : This study intends to investigate how different demographic groups among individual forest owners in Sweden view issues related to sustainable forestry. The study also intends to investigate what different individual forest owners perceive as positive/negative aspects in terms of species protection and policy changes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Woodland key habitats for functional forest landscape green infrastructure in the Swedish mountain region

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Britta Sterner; [2021]
    Nyckelord :woodland key habitat; green infrastructure; connectivity; forest biodiversity; NW Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : The intact forest landscapes along the Scandinavian Mountain range are of very high conservational value both nationally and internationally, due to their intact characteristics and biodiversity. The high nature conservation values have remained as a result of restricted forest clear-cutting above the so-called mountain forest border (MFB). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Amount and distribution of coarse woody debris in Dalby Söderskog national park

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

    Författare :Balaji Naik Sugali; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Ash dieback; coarse woody debris; dead wood volume; Dutch elm disease; forest reserve; Sweden; temperate forest; tree log; tree snag;

    Sammanfattning : Coarse Woody Debris (CWD) is a critical structural and functional component of all forest ecosystems and comprises non-living woody biomass, standing or lying, larger than 10 cm in diameter. This study provides the first inventory of coarse woody debris in the temperate broadleaf forest of Dalby Söderskog national park in southern Sweden. LÄS MER
