    Sammanfattning : My ambition in the midst of the myriad of conflicting views in Smith scholarship has been to examine Smith’s perspective on wage labour, as formulated in The Wealth of Nations, in light of previous research, the historical context, his moral psychology described in The Theory of Moral Sentiments, and his presentation of rights developed in Lectures on Jurisprudence. Therefore, the central question has been, “How did Adam Smith perceive wage labour?” Since The Wealth of Nations was formulated in a specific historical context - which has come to be known as the Scottish Enlightenment -, it is necessary to approach the text with an understanding of these historical conditions in order to grasp Smith's economic theory.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to provide understanding on how the discursive construction of mental health and illness in politics relates to health policy and in turn to inequalities in mental health. Based on Carol Bacchis discourse analytical framework WPR, I analyze policy documents from the Swedish parliament in fall 2022 in order to investigate how mental health and illness is represented in the political discourse and what potential effects these representations have on inequalities in health.     Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the institutions and economic development of the late Ottoman Empire, examining whether institutions can explain the economic development of the regions and countries subject to it during the period of 1820-1913. The thesis aims to quantify the institutional determinants of geography, religion/culture, and political economy/interests, and it employs a semi-experimental approach of using inequality extraction ratios as an indicator for the political economy.
