  1. 6. Clearcut tourism : a framework for a forest regeneration initiative based on sustainable forestry and public participation involvement

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (from 130101)

    Författare :Tamara Hadházi; [2023]
    Nyckelord :sustainable forestry; landscape architecture; clearcutting; sustainable tourism; ecosystem-based forestry; single-tree selection; clearcut-tourism; sustainable business model; environmental psychology; environmental education; ecosystem services; detached tourism;

    Sammanfattning : Swedish forestry (and forestry in general) is a long-term investment that should last through generations. Some generations are only putting in the money to take care of it and not seeing much profit. Sometimes there is a point, where an individual landowner decides, it is time to get at least some income by clearcutting the forest. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Developing a Geographical Information System for a water and sewer network, for monitoring, identification and leak repair - Case study: Municipal Water Company of Naoussa, Greece

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Konstantinos Sourlamtas; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Water and sewer network; GIS; UAV; surveying; photogrammetry; orthophoto; geodatabase; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the design and implementation of a Geographic Information System (GIS) for the Naoussa Municipality Water and Sewer Company for better water utility management. The methodology contained field data collection like the valves, sewer manholes, hydrometers, and hydrants in two ways, UAV photogrammetry, and traditional surveying, the georeferencing process, photogrammetric processing, the digitization of old paper maps and the geodatabase design. 3. 8. Product Development of Electronic Devices for Improved Environmental Performance : Finding improvement opportunities using ecodesign tools and success factors

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Industriell miljöteknik

    Författare :Angelica Reyes; Alice Landin; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Ecodesign; Ecodesign implementation; Building Management Systems; Electronics; Environmental Sustainability; QFDE; LCA;

    Sammanfattning : The energy consumption of the use phase of buildings accounts for almost 30 per-cent of the global energy consumption and is expected to increase in the coming years (Santamouris and Vasilakopoulou, 2021). Furthermore, increasing demand for energy-efficient buildings can be expected due to the introduction of legislative frameworks, such as the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and the Energy Efficiency Directive (European Commission, 2022b). 4. 9. Potential policy projects for decreasing fluoride concentrations in the groundwater of Aguascalientes, Mexico : a cost-benefit analysis

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Författare :Elice Fällström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :aguascalientes; cost-benefit analysis; fluoride removal; centre pivot irrigation; sustainable development; environmental policy;

    Sammanfattning : Reductions in groundwater quality due to aquifer depletion is a growing issue globally and will become more prominent with continued climate change and population growth. Dry regions are particularly vulnerable to this issue due to their reliance on groundwater for water supply. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Water Risk Assessment of Agricultural Raw Materials in a Global Supply Chain : A Case Study of IKEA

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Victoria Berggren; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Water Risk Assessment; Freshwater; Water Depletion; Water Availability; Agricultural Raw Materials; Soy; Palm Oil; Agricultural Management Practices; and Material Sourcing; Riskbedömning för vatten; sötvatten; vattenbrist; vattentillgång; jordbruksråmaterial; soja; palmolja; jordbruksförvaltningsmetoder och materialförsörjning;

    Sammanfattning : Current mass consumption and production patterns have led to an unsustainable use of natural resources, including freshwater, which is one the most crucial natural resources for people and the planet. Agricultural production systems are alone responsible for 72 percent of all global water withdrawals. LÄS MER
