2. Från beatniks till hippies : Utmanande och omvälvande subkulturella ungdomsgrupper i Sverige 1959 till 1969
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för kulturantropologi och etnologiSammanfattning : From beatniks to hippies — challenging and revolving subcultural youths in Sweden 1959 to 1969 The purpose of this work has been to explore and analyse the transformation of the youth subcultures beatniks and hippies in a Swedish context between 1959 and 1969, by searching answers to the following questions: What was the background of the subcultures ? How were these subcultures established, transformed and developed in a Swedish context? What became their typical style and taste?, and in what rooms and places were these cultures practiced by Swedish youths? Mass media, especially TV but also radio, film, books and records brought the world in and were the main reason youths in Sweden could identify themselves through foreign subcultures. 3. The Apostle to the Intelligentsia : Father Alexander Men’ and the Rediscovery of the Russian Silver Age
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informatik och mediaSammanfattning : This thesis seeks to shed light on a remarkable figure in Russian history, Father Alexander Men’. How and why did Men’ identify Vladimir Solovyov, Nikolai Berdyaev, and other pre-revolutionary cultural figures as representatives of authentic Russian religious culture? Why would a popular Russian Orthodox priest present the writings of mystics, anarchists, and the Silver Age counterculture as the antidote for seventy years of Soviet materialism? What role did Judaism and the Russo-Jewish intellectual tradition have on Men’s identifications as an Orthodox priest? I use a semiotic theory of culture following Yuri Lotman and the Tartu–Moscow Semiotic School as a framework to analyze the historical development of Orthodox personalism. LÄS MER

5. Women of the Fäbod : An Ethnological Study of the Swedish Fäbod Culture at the Turn of the 20th Century
