    Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes an explanation for origin of conspiracy theories about the French Revolution. Despite being unfounded, the conspiracy theory blaming the Illuminati for the Revolution became widespread because it appeared to be supported by evidence. From its roots in Christian history when the Satanic Black Mass was once a polemic instrument for subduing the other, and its transformation into a meaningful practice with which the oft subdued raise their own voice.
