    Sammanfattning : What can we say about the future of art and the exhibition aspects of art? How are art institutions today co-creators in shaping conditions for the future, and how is the network of larger institutions connected to politics, as well as in the shaping of cultural heritage and the identity of a city? This essay examines how discourses for exhibitions are developed among three municipal institutions: Malmö konsthall, Malmö Kulturförvaltning and Malmö Konstmuseum. With Reader-response Theory, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis as well as Comparative Analysis, the thesis’ qualitative approach aims to, alongside with the question of the network between the three institutions, examine if, and how, statements from representatives of municipal art institutions in Malmö are similar or dissimilar to statements from the representatives at art institutions in Sweden concerning the future of, and exhibition aspects of art.
