    Sammanfattning : The current study aimed to investigate the effects of disfluencies, specifically filled pauses (FP) and unfilled pauses (UP), on reaction time (RT) to target words and hyponyms of target hypernyms(targets = target words + hyponyms of target hypernyms). Two experiments were conducted, withthe first experiment examining the impact of disfluencies on RTs to target words in utterances, whilethe second experiment explored their effect on hyponyms of target hypernyms. Previous research has established that it is important for children to be given the opportunity to expand their basic vocabulary in English during their years in school, in order to assimilate the teaching in the classroom.     Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of robust vocabulary instruction in classroom teaching on the student´s knowledge of word meaning and comprehension of textbook texts. The following two questions were in focus: What effect does a robust vocabulary instruction, applied in regular classroom teaching, have on students' knowledge of the meanings of words, especially students with weak vocabulary? What effect does a robust vocabulary instruction, applied in regular classroom teaching, have on students' reading comprehension of factual texts in the subject social sciences especially students with weak vocabulary?     Sammanfattning : The aim of this intervention study was to examine the effect of Robust Vocabulary Instruction in a Swedish second grade regular classroom setting, to evaluate to which degree a rich vocabulary instruction is beneficial for all students’ vocabulary growth. Sophisticated target-words (tier 2 words) from a children’s book read aloud, were instructed to 24 children in the experimental class, whereas 20 children in the comparison class heard the same story but received no instruction.
