  1. 41. Ground-nesting bees in the age of urbanization : quality of sandy habitat and wild bee diversity in Uppsala, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Indre Cepukaite; [2022]
    Nyckelord :ground-nesting bees; wild bees; cleptoparasitic bees; indicator taxon; urbanization; sandy soil; bare soil; habitat age; ground cover; diversity; pollinator protection and conservation;

    Sammanfattning : Wild bees are indispensable pollinators of most flowering plants and agricultural crops, and thus are vital components of functioning ecosystems and provide essential ecosystem services to humans. This study primarily aimed to discover the environmental features of nesting habitat that are mostly associated with wild ground-nesting and associated cleptoparasitic bee species diversity in urban landscape. 2. 42. Outdoor Recreational Activities in Bali, Indonesia : The Cultural Landscape Subak as a Respite

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of People and Society

    Författare :Kei Nilsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :greenspaces; terraced paddy landscape; UNESCO World Heritage Site; leisure activities; nature-based interventions; pro-environmental behaviour; mixed methods research; the environmental psychology of landscape architecture; public health; sustainable development goals; cultural heritage site; natural heritage; cultural landscape subak; outdoor recreational activities; environmental recreation; physical activities; green exercise; supportive environments; restorative environments; nature-based therapy; nature-based solutions; nature-based tourism; mixed methods analysis; conservation; preservation; physical health; psychological health; mental health; social well-being; health science; health promotion; recreation ecology; sustainability; Agenda 2030; SDGs; SDG 3; SDG 4; SDG 11; SDG 12; Bali; Indonesia; developing countries; low- and middle-income countries; Sida;

    Sammanfattning : While Indonesia faces countless environmental challenges due to the deforestation and exploitation of nature, the terraced rice landscapes of Bali – known as subak – appear to be not only more protected, but also better preserved than the rest of the country’s greenspaces. It is therefore imperative to ponder upon the question of why this discrepancy may be and, in this case, investigate how subak visitors have been using these areas for outdoor recreational activities and thus contribute to greater environmental awareness. 3. 43. The assessment of ecosystem services provided by forest edge effects on fields in a fragmented Swedish agricultural landscape : a methodological framework

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Crop Production Ecology

    Författare :Juliette Nguyen; [2022]
    Nyckelord :carbon sequestration; cropping systems; DSSAT; ecosystem services; edge effect; food production; landscape diversification; landscape fragmentation; soil heterogeneity; soil organic carbon; spatial variability; total nitrogen; yield;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural expansion, prompted by increasing global food demand, has fragmented, simplified, and homogenized the landscape in the last decades. The resilience and sustainability of croplands are at stake, resulting in a hight vulnerability to climate change, and having major impacts on environmental protection, biodiversity preservation and food security. 4. 44. Fördjupad landskapsplanering i fjällnära skog : höga naturvärden, markägande och ersättning för rätt att bruka skog

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Petra Landström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Forest investigation; private forest owners; nature conservation; conservation conflict; forest policy; high conservation value forest; northwest Swede; mountain forest border; sorsele municipality;

    Sammanfattning : Fragmentation constitutes one of the biggest threats against biodiversity, and conservation efforts are increasing. Conservation efforts which are created at an international or national level may cause conflicts when it is time for the local implementation. LÄS MER

  5. 45. Assessing the impact of post-fire restoration interventions using spectral vegetation indices: A case study in El Bruc, Spain

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Bernat Dorado Guerrero; [2022]
    Nyckelord :geography; GIS; restoration intervention; drylands; monitoring; BACI; spectral vegetation indices; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Ecological restoration has become an increasingly used practice to revert degraded land and mitigate the effects of extreme events in vulnerable biomes such as drylands. Methods to improve the assessment of these restoration interventions are essential to ensure their success, optimize resources and identify improvement aspects for future interventions. LÄS MER
