    Sammanfattning : Uppsatsen är både en teoretisk redogörelse för en psykologisk förståelse av autonomi och en pilotstudie på ett nytt självskattningsformulär för självupplevd autonomi.Författarna utvecklade en stipulativ definition av självupplevd autonomi utifrån filosofisk och psykologisk litteratur: En människa upplever sig som autonom i den grad hon anser sig 1) förmögen att reflektera kring sitt tänkande och sina impulser, 2) vara i kontakt med sina egna känslor och kunna relatera till andras upplevelser, samt 3) agera i enlighet med sin identitet och sina värderingar, i relation till den omgivning hon verkar i över tid.
