   Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at providing an in-depth study of the balancing act made by the Swedish legislator between the rights to privacy and data protection on the one hand, and the retention of data generated in connection with the provision of publicly available electronic communications networks on the other hand. The two main questions the study seeks to answer are: • What significance does the experience of belonging to a discriminated group have for the inclination to feel trust in others and in society within the 18 EU countries? • To what extent can the impact of social success, including the experience of belonging to a discriminated group, explain the variations in levels of trust in others and in society within the 18 EU countries?
