Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/SocialhögskolanSammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate which factors relating to the 1) perpetrator of intimate partner violence and 2) the respondents have an impact on social workers’ judgements about the severity of intimate partner violence. The study was carried out by a factorial survey method - experimental vignettes - in which the respondents were asked to make judgements about vignettes – or fictitious cases – describing a report of concern to the social service involving intimate partner violence. The study was carried out in the form of an experimental vignette survey (a factorial survey), in which the respondents made judgements about fictitious cases describing various situations of potential sexual sibling incest. When it comes to cases concerning children, social workers and judges are expected to strictly obey the rules of the law but at the same time make individual judgements based on the best interest of the child, something that requires a great deal of empathy and knowledge.
