    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this study was to gain knowledge about the institutionalized deathin contemporary Sweden and the experiences of death expressed both by carerecipients and health professionals. The theoretical framework used in this study isbased on the stress-appraisal-coping model developed by Richard Lazarus and SusanFolkman, Kenneth Pargaments theory of religious coping, and complemented by LisaSands concept of life links.     Sammanfattning : This paper is a study over the sculptures and paintings of the swiss artist Alberto Giacometti after 1945 and how he himself and Jean-Paul Sartre describe the influences and meanings of this art. The paper describes the political and resistent movements in Paris during the german occupation and after the war and the intellectual society and milieu of philosophers, writers, artist, gallerists and publishers who met at the cafés of Montparnasse and Saint-Germain-des-Près during the existentialistic movement that Giacometti and Sartre were a part of.     Sammanfattning : As the title of this essay suggests, Paul Auster’s 2003 novel Oracle Night is studied with regard to what is here considered to be a search for a way out of estrangement. This search, as narrated from the point of view of the protagonist, is followed by a certain recognition of the limits of human existence – which may be essentially meaningless but is nevertheless portrayed as an intentional state of being, not least through the act of writing as a means of subjectification.
