21. Clearcutting and the breeding productivity of golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos) in Västerbotten County
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental StudiesSammanfattning : The golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is red-listed as near threatened in Sweden, but there are many basic ecological and demographical parameters important for successful management and conservation that are unknown for the Swedish golden eagle population. Forestry, and especially clearcutting (or final cutting/felling or regeneration cutting/felling), the most common harvesting system in Sweden since the 1950’s, are likely important factors affecting the Swedish golden eagle population, but exactly how is largely unknown. 22. Drivers of domestic cat movement in Scotland
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : Free-roaming domestic cats are an increasing concern for biodiversity conservation. Cats prey on wildlife, spread disease and breed with native wildcat species leading to hybridisation. It is therefore useful to know what factors influence the movement of domestic cats. LÄS MER
25. Planning for Viable Forests with High Biodiversity
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildningSammanfattning : In recent decades, the rate of extinction of species is increasing due to human use and refinement of nature. This has resulted in a large amount of research throughout the world. Forestry today is mostly based on clear cuts, and many natural forests have been cut down and replaced with monocultured forests.
