El trabajo parte de la observación de que la protagonista no se comporta de manera tradicional, y el propósito de la tesina es analizar sus características y aclararlas con ayuda de la teoría del marianismo.     Sammanfattning : This study is constructed upon narratives of fourteen young women, who have been working in prostitution since they were street children in central Lima, and acknowledges their stigmatization in the Peruvian society, and how they challenge their socially constructed position. By combining narrative method with an intersectional analysis I have, through a multi-layered loupe, interpreted the young women’s interpretation of themselves and their social world. LÄS MER

The song lyrics have, however, received criticism for allegedly reinforcing stereotypical gender roles built on machismo and sexist values, partly because of the majority of reggaetón producers and performers being men.     Sammanfattning : Machismo is a construction of masculinity and a gender ideology found in varying degrees within the Latin American societies, stating the superiority of the man by enhancing and overvaluing certain stereotypically masculine traits said to be nature-given. Being the hegemonic masculinity of Mexico specifically – and having been so for a long period of time although its definite origin has yet to be determined – it persists on many levels, oftentimes unnoticed.
