    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to investigate Swedish upper secondary school teachers’ statements regarding reading and teaching choices in the English courses. The methods used were a survey in the form of a qualitative questionnaire, and a qualitative content analysis which was then applied to the survey data gathered. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to get a broader understanding of the factors surrounding the choice of genre affiliations among saxophonists based on two primary umbrella terms: the jazz/black American music genre and the classical genre. The focus of the study can be boiled down to these research questions: • When and how does a saxophonist usually pick their genre affiliation, if it even is an active choice? • Are there any correlations between the genre affiliation of a teacher and that of their students’ later genre affiliations? Data was collected through an online survey along with interviews with five prominent saxophonists from both genres after which they were analyzed and compared to previous research. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This paper seeks to answer the question: “How does one mic, record and process string instruments in a non- classical recording, and where the end product is a soundscape not typically associated with the stringed instrument family?” A few unique challenges were dealt with along the way: How to track the string section, that relies heavily on the acoustics of a given room, very close in order to maximize control over sounds in post- production without losing to much of the characteristics of the instrument. What microphone positions create the ideal sound? My solutions to these challenges is the main body of text in this paper, and my findings can be summarized as follows: overhead micing each violin and viola with large diaphram condenser microphone, micing close to the bridge with a large condenser microphone for the celli, and in post production relying quite heavily on the audio from the room microphone captured with both small- and large-diaphragm condenser microphones. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six individuals who had an ongoing or completed classical music education at university level. In a thematic analysis, seven themes were identified. Studien syftar även till att kartlägga de uppfattningar om musicerande och yrkesval som eleverna ger uttryck för under gymnasietiden samt undersöka vilka faktorer som har bidragit till deras fortsatta musicerande.
